Hola to all of us staying home!

Hi everyone who has girls heading off to South America next week.
I think that they will have an amazing time. Sarah has almost
everything on the required list, though there's still a few items she
needs. Hope it all fits in the backpack we bought. I'm thinking of
mailing the first "Care"package the end of this week. What are others doing?

Hi. I am Melissa's mom. I've been thinking about what to send in a care package--space in the backpack is at a premium so I guess it has to be something readily consumable. I imagine a little candy will be a welcome accompaniment to guinea pig.

Jenna suggests candy and letters, :-), and, maybe a special item of your daughter's, as long as it's small and no one will be too disappointed if it doesn't arrive or is lost. During the Africa semester, although the girls only received packages at one location, Jenna was excited to get multiple smaller packages as opposed to a single bigger package. And not just from me and her dad, but a few friends and extended family members, so pull them into the fun. A single candy bar or letter was more than enough from friends and extended family. I also included a few pictures and random news items. Oh, and, Luna bars were a hit with Jenna in addition to candy (a lot of it melted; not sure if that will happen this semester -- maybe at the beginning?). Keep in mind, though, that they have to carry everything. :-)
